"Rorschach Fractal" is the result of collaborative experimentation with GLSL program. Inside the algorithm, iterative formula gives birth to self-similar patterns. Then each side mirrors the other, and intricate patterns begin to emerge, challenging the viewer to discern familiar shapes, figures, or symbols within the symmetrical chaos. The algorithm, crafted by human hands, produces a complex Rorschach test for its human audience.
The idea of the project started in local genart chat where participants usually share their WIPs. Stranger in the Q suggested me to apply some techniques he often uses in his artworks. And community liked the results!
unexpected collab with @stranger_intheq just happened! :D pic.twitter.com/1M8mDqVTaF

We laughed at some outputs, and proceed to explore variations and playing with algorithm.
I must say: stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/WRl5NN7zk1

Variety of the underlying pattern is tremendous. The main shape depends on 4 two-dimensional variables, so the resulting parameter space is nearly 8-dimensional! We had to make a special UI for ourselves to navigate this multidimensional space, so that we can fully explore the variety of the algorithm. That's the initial version of this UI:
curse of dimensionality, lol

I had to make this widget with 5 (five!) 2D-sliders to check all possible configurations of the underlying formula - yet to decide all "pretty" boundaries pic.twitter.com/YZHovnWLFa
